150 km northeast from Kajaani, 75 km southeast from Suomussalmi, near Russian border (1,5 km) in Kuivajärvi village, which is the only inhabited Viena Karelian village in Finland. Lake Pieni Kuivajärvi 20 m (length 1 km, width 0,5 km), connection to Lake Kuivajärvi (length 2,3 km, width 1 km), shallow, rocky bottom, a pier, own rowing boat. Large, hand-carved log cabin, built in 1964, renovated and modernized in 2015, spacious living room, kitchen, 5 bedrooms (all bedrooms with 2 beds in each), sauna (electric sauna stove), washroom with hydro massage bath and 2 showers, dressing room and living-, exhibition- and meeting area. Three of the bedrooms are upstairs, sauna facilities downstairs. Kitchen is equipped with catering kitchen facilities, hot and cold buffet tables in the living room. Lakeside sauna 40 m, wood heated sauna stove, hearth room and covered porch. Water pipe (shower in the sauna), electric heating and electric lighting. Own boat launching and campfire site on the shore. In the main building there are for example Smart tv, Netflix and wireless internet connection (Wi-Fi) and hot tub in the yard (filled and heated by the client himself, price 50 € / booking). TV can be seen only through internet connection because of the secluded location. Karaoke equipment, poker table and air source heat pump (with cooling in the summer time). Fish cleaning table in the yard. Historically valuable Domnan Pirtti offers a fine setting for wilderness- and nature activities, hunting- and fishing trips and also for meetings, recreational days and family celebrations. Catering- and programme services available for advance booking. There is room even for 50 persons (however 10 persons is maximum for overnight guests). Domnan Pirtti is also suitable for peaceful vacations in beautiful Viena Karelian village. Nearby there are for example Orthodox chapel of St. Nicholas (church, 150 m), Kuivajärvi outdoor dance hall (200m) and Hietajärvi heritage house (3,5 km). Cottage is surrounded by state-owned lands, Kalevala park's Nature Reserves of Murhisalo includes also valuable landscape areas of Kuivajärvi and Hietajärvi area. UKK Itäraja summer hiking trail reaches also Kuivajärvi area. Hiking trails and nature paths in the area are suitable for day trips to multi-day hikes. Fishing: Small lakes, rapids and streams in the queue, fishing license area 5505 Yli-Vuokki (www.eraluvat.fi). Hunting: State owned lands small game hunting area 5604 East-Suomussalmi (www.eraluvat.fi).
